The Australasian Association of Professional Organisers

The Australasian Association of Professional Organisers (AAPO) is the industry association for Professional Organisers throughout Australasia.

As a cutting edge leader AAPOs mission is to:

  • support its members and their businesses;
  • set industry standards; and
  • educate the public on the value of Professional Organising.

AAPOs Vision is to be internationally recognised as Australasia’s premier industry association for leading and developing Professional Organisers.

The role of a Professional Organiser is many and varied.  Our members offer services ranging from time management, storage design, event management, decluttering services and system development in your home, workplace and business. A professional organiser can contribute significantly to the effectiveness of your office and home, tailoring services to suit whatever area of your life needs organising.

Free Organising Tips

AAPO members are a wealth of organising knowledge. Below they share some of their favourite tips.  Remember to check back regularly as these tips are constantly changing.

  • When packing for a move, always organise an ‘Open First’ box for when you first arrive at your new home. Include pyjamas, underwear, toothbrush, toilet paper, kettle, snacks and anything else you may need in that first 24 hours. Then you don’t have to feel so stressed and pressured to unpack everything at once. Linda Eagleton, Creative Surrounds
  • You'll be amazed at what you can do in 10 minutes. Every day, take five minutes to straighten up and five minutes to focus on cleaning out the clutter in a drawer, on a shelf or any small area, and you will find your house in order in no time.  Kerry Roesler, All In Order
  • We all have "too hard baskets" - things you keep putting off for another day. But you'd be amazed at how much time & energy you actually waste handling paper multiple times yet not finishing the task then and there! Try this little experiment: Any time you pick up a piece of paper put a little red dot in the corner.  Once you've picked it up and put it down a few times you'll really start to notice the things you are procrastinating over. In short, you don't want your paperwork to get the measles... so just do it! These "too hard" tasks are not usually as hard as we think, especially if we break them down into manageable steps and schedule time to address them.

  • "By the time I get home, cooking something healthy is just too hard". This is a well known excuse but is it really valid.  Create a meal plan and include additions as such as quick cook rice, pre-washed salad and couscous.  With these staples you can add grilled protein in 15 minutes. Karen Perkins, Clear & Clutterfree
